Oxygen is required to convert Cu to Cu for further gold leaching. The most detailed work on the role of oxygen in ammoniacal thiosulphate systems containing Cu was carried out by Byerley et al., 1973a, Byerley et al., 1973b, Byerley et al., 1975.
